PALO SANTO (Bursera graveolens L. Oleum)
The low, dioecious, deciduous tree is typical for its occurrence in drier and dry areas of tropical South America. The leaves growing at the ends of the branches are pinnate. When the bark is cut, the tree provides a fragrant resin that solidifies in air and forms an incense or incense like incense. In pre-Columbian South America, these substances were widely used for magical-religious ceremonies and for the treatment of the sick. At present, only the second use has remained.
Harvested stems of naturally fallen trees, sorted and further processed by cutting. Aromatic essential oil is obtained from these chips by steam distillation.
