ACHIOTE leaf (Bixa orellana L. Folium) -  food supplement.

This shrub can grow into a 10 meters tall tree. It especially catches your eye by its red fruits. The American Indian tribes use the seeds as a source of natural dye not only to diversify the color of their food, but also to dye fabrics and to paint ornaments on their bodies.

They also use the leaves of this tree – mostly to prepare some brine or a tonic. The indigenous Amazonian ethnomedicine uses achiote a lot, since its effects are very health beneficial due to the content of flavonoids and other substances.

Use for infusion:

Pour hot (about 80°C) water over 5g of the herb. Let it stand for about 15 minutes, then drain and slowly sip 3dcl 3 times a day. The drink can be sweetened with bee honey to achieve a better taste.
